What is a Canine Whisperer?
A canine whisperer understands dogs, and trains people to be better dog owners. It goes by many names - dog reader, dog facilitator, dog communicator, dog whisperer - not to be confused with a pet psychic or even dog trainer, though it does encompass some training. Training is more effective with understanding. When you understand your dog, training goes faster and and problems are easier to correct. There is nothing psychic about it. We no longer accept dogs to train, but do provide you with assistance from experts in the canine training field.
You can be a canine whisperer when you learn from the best. We highly recommend Ian Dunbar, The Monks of New Skete, Victoria Stillwell, Carol Benjamin, and Karen Pryor, all respected greats in the dog training industry. You'll find links to their courses, books and materials on every page.
Many problems people have with dogs is due to a lack of understanding of dog behavior. We are primates and don't always understand the way canines think. A dog is a pack animal that has different priorities, feelings and needs than humans. I teach pack dynamics, dominance, and leadership so you can better understand your dog's behavior. I solve problems and find common sense solutions, using understanding, knowledge and positive reinforcement. The reason behind some behaviors are not clear until you understand them. There are some wonderful courses at UDEMY that are about dog psychology...we highly recommend them.
Learn to recognize dog behavior, and what it means. Learn how we humanize dogs and how this impacts their relationship with us. Don't give up, get information and have a better relationship with your dog(s).
A canine whisperer uses the proper tools to identify and correct bad behavior, while increasing the likelihood of good behavior with praise and treats. A canine whisperer doesn't have to hit, hurt or shame a dog to get results - he uses positive reinforcement which is longer lasting and more humane.
